Hunger's Duel (Sonnet)

Hunger's Duel

'Midst urban streets where shadows tightly cling,

A famished boy with hunger deep and raw,

He vies with dog, both desperate, spirits draw,

For stale bread cast away, a meager thing.

Beside the bin, they struggle, hunger's sting,

In battles fought, survival is their law,

Two souls engaged in struggle, hearts in awe,

A dance of need, where destitutions sing.

The scent of sustenance, a distant dream,

Ignites a fire within the boy's frail form,

He fights for life, where dignity may gleam,

Defies the odds, though fate might try to swarm.

In this stark tale of heartache, courage stands,

Two beings fight as life deals its demands.
